Imakatsu pioneers the creation of bass-shaped worms that are completely tailored to resemble bass in silhouette and movement.
There are so many different kinds of gill-shaped worms, but why aren't there any bass-shaped worms? This question was the starting point for the development of the industry's first bass-shaped soft bait, called "Bass Worm." The slit on only one side creates the action of a bass worm, which is the basic concept of a bass worm: "a small bass desperately struggling to hide."
The concept behind this worm is to mimic baitfish desperately trying to escape predators by hiding in cover such as rocks and trees. A rig that faithfully reproduces this concept is a beefsteak or football head rig using a heavy 10g (3/8oz) to 17.5g (5/8oz) sinker, with an offset hook (Mihara Pro uses a Ryugi Infini #6/0) set horizontally.
By fixing the heavy, low-center-of-gravity sinker to the bottom as a pivot point and shaking it in one spot, it mimics baitfish desperately trying to escape into obstacles by sticking its head in and struggling.
