About Sam Rayburn
Sam Rayburn is located on the Angelina River. The lake was impounded in 1965. Its dam is located in Jasper County approximately 15 miles north of Jasper. The lakes' surface area covers an amazing 114,500 acres with a maximum depth of 80 feet. There are several areas with standing timber and submerged grass.

Lake Sam Rayburn is a big fish lake. Several bass over 10lbs are caught each year. Sam Rayburn doesn't only have big bass but big crappie as well.
