About Lake Ray Roberts
Plans for this reservoir were drawn out in the 70's but construction didn't start until 1981 and wasn't completed until 1986. Construction of this reservoir displaced two small historic towns - Sullivan Settlement and Green Valley. While all the man-made structures of these communities were leveled to their foundations, these structures are still sometimes visible when the lake is low. These foundations are not only a point of interest for scuba divers, but also provide some cover for the gamefish that reside in Ray Roberts.
